Appam Preparation






Appam
Ingredients for Appam:

  • Raw Rice - 2 cups
  • Shredded coconut - handful
  • Steamed rice - Handful 
  • yeast - 1/2 spoon(Sour Curd)
  • Sugar - 2-3 tablespoons
  • Salt - as needed

Preparation Of Appam

  • Soak the rice for Two hours. 
  • Grind coconut and stemed rice together until smooth batter. To this add the steamed rice and grind everything together.
  • Add the yeast, salt and sugar and mixwell with blender. Let it ferment for twelve hours or before of sleep.


Tips:

  • If you do'nt like the smell of yeast you can use sour curd, add a pinch of bakingsoda thirty minutes before making the appams. 
  • Variations
  • You can make 'WheatAapams' too. Make the batter by  mixing wheatflour with salt, sugar, yeast, coconut milk and water. 


Serving Suggestion:

  • Serve the appam with sweetened coconut milk, stew,honey, kadala (chikpea, kala chana) curry or with any kurma.
  • Appam with  coconut milk or honey
